The 3rd EU HCV Policy Virtual Summit on 24 March 2021 explores barriers to elimination

Despite the progress that’s been made in recent years, viral hepatitis remains a serious public health threat worldwide. In the World Health Organization (WHO) European region an estimated 15 million people are living with chronic hepatitis B, and 14 million people are living with hepatitis C. The public health threat of hepatitis has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic with many countries reporting disruption to hepatitis services due to strained healthcare systems and shifting priorities, putting the 2030 elimination goals in jeopardy.

The third EU HCV Policy Summit will bring together policy-makers, experts, members of parliament, directors of national hepatitis C elimination plans, mayors, patient associations, clinicians and Members of the European Parliament to raise awareness on the state of play regarding the goal of hepatitis C by 2030 and showcase best practices as well as indicate what policy actions are needed to get more countries on track to achieve hepatitis C elimination by 2030. The summit is taking place on Wednesday 24 March 2021 from 14:00 to 18:15 CET.
