Save Your Liver foundation, SYLiF, an affiliate of the World Hepatitis Alliance (WHA) under the World Health Organization, is a Liver-Health centered Non-Governmental Organization committed to liver health policy advocacy and awareness creation on liver health.
The organization’s mission is to ensure the institutionalization of liver health policies in Africa as part of a global network to create liver awareness through Research, policy advocacy, education and programme interventions in partnership with government, academia, donor agencies and health related corporate industry players.
The organization was established in January 2007 but formally registered and inaugurated in January 2009 with the support of the Ministry of Health. The Foundation is the first of its kind in Ghana and sub-Saharan Africa devoted to the crusade against liver diseases and to ensure optimum Liver health consciousness as part of global effort towards ensuring Progressive Liver health attitudes among people.
The formation of Save Your Liver Foundation was inspired by Nyaaba-Aweeba Azongo, the President of the Foundation, a development consultant and researcher in Ghana with Health planning background, and Mr. Christian Addai, the Executive Director of the Foundation , a leading health practitioner with health planning background and extensive experience in Health care in Ghana. The foundation has a staff strength of 21 and about 3000 volunteers throughout the Country and is currently planning to extend its activities to Nigeria and other francophone countries in the West African Sub-Region.
