About National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors (NASTAD)

OUR MISSION
NASTAD’s mission is to strengthen state and territory-based and global leadership, expertise and advocacy and bring them to bear in reducing the incidence of HIV and viral hepatitis infections and on providing care and support to all who live with HIV and viral hepatitis.

NASTAD's vision is a world free of HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis.

WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO
Founded in 1992, NASTAD is a non-profit national association representing the chief state health agency staff in all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the U.S. Pacific Islands. NASTAD members have programmatic responsibility for administering state health department HIV and viral hepatitis healthcare, prevention, education and supportive service programs funded by state and federal governments.

As a national leader in health department mobilization, NASTAD encourages the use of applied scientific knowledge and community engagement as a method of reducing the incidence of HIV and viral hepatitis infections in the U.S., its territories, and around the world.

Each of NASTAD’s five programmatic teams—Health Care Access, Policy & Legislative Affairs, Viral Hepatitis, Health Equity & Prevention and Global—interpret and influence policies, conduct trainings, offer technical assistance and provide advocacy mobilization for U.S. health departments and ministries of health around the world to improve health outcomes for people living with HIV and viral hepatitis.
