About Livewell Initiative (LWI)

LiveWell Initiative LWI, the International HSE Oil & Gas Award winning organization, is a self-sustaining social enterprise which offers ‘turnkey health solutions’.

The organisation (RC 692490), registered as ‘Limited by Guaranty’, was inaugurated on September 20th 2007 at the MUSON Centre Onikan Lagos, by His Excellency the Executive Governor of Lagos Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN.  Having started off with less than 10 Volunteer Officers at inception, LWI now boasts of over 250 Volunteer Officers including Consultant Physicians, Healthcare Specialists and Professionals from all walks of life including up to 40 doctors, up to 40 pharmacists, at least 50 public health practitioners, several nurses, and social scientists and 2 lawyers and engineers among others. Our Success Story is premised against the fact that we are Self-Sustaining Social Enterpreneurs and, an Innovation-Driven Organisation which thrives on Partnerships, Barters, Collaborations and Value Adding Synergies.

At LWI, we believe that everyone is our prospective client; old or young, rich or poor, lettered or unlettered. Thus we have programmes for ALL populations across the sociodemographic spectrum. As a matter of principle, we believe that our best must be better than the best anywhere else; thus you will find that our goals and targets usually surpass the best goals anywhere in the world. When LWI was born, we started off with 5 Programmes; however today we have not only succeeded in retaining all 5 programmes; …we have succeeded in launching at least one additional programme each new year. In addition we have built collaborations with over 100 companies and we have run over an average of 2 programmes a week over the past 3-4 years. Indeed, we have been very busy!

Our programmes consist mainly of Corporate and Community Health Programmes, Outreaches, Executive Health and Wellness Programmes, Worklife Balance and Workplace Wellness Programmes, Nutrition, Fitness , Health & Safety, First Aid / CPR and Basic Life Support Training, Personal Hygiene / Handwashing and Etiquette Programmes, Patient Hospitality, Soft Skills, Organisational Behavior, Responsibility Authority and Accountability, Healthcare Assistants’/ Wellness Wardens’ Course and, Infectious Diseases Prevention / Aseptic Technique among others. 

At our Academy which is the training arm of the organisation, we have trained over 1,000 Alumni in the past 7 years including Bankers, Managers from all walks of life, Healthcare Professionals, and more recently Low Income Formal Sector Employees (for organisational bottomline enhancement and improved safety practices).

LWI has run programmes in all 6 geopolitical zones of the country and it has Volunteers in Ghana, Zimbabwe, Uganda, UK, Canada, USA and Switzerland.

The organisation has won a few International Awards and Recognitions including the Soroptimists International Award (Manchester UK, 2009), the IAPO Global Photo Contest (2013), the International HSE Oil & Gas Awards(2014) and more recently the Lagos State Governor’s CSR Awards for Schools(March 2015).

A corporate member of the Nigeria Britain Association NBA, LWI was  recently appointed as a SubAgent of the Prestigious Duke of Edinburgh Awards in Nigeria. The organisation was given an open commendation by the immediate past US Consul General Mr Joseph Stafford, at its US Consulate Partnered Grand Health Bazaar GHB2011.

Having run several programmes at the bottom of the pyramid, LWI has partnered with several organisations including Businessday Publications, GSK (Oyo State), Oxfam (Nationwide Female Farmers’ Hero), Osun State Rural Health Mission, Regency Alliance, Ogun State Government, Federal Road Safety Corps (Lokoja Niger State), NYSC (Kanke, Plateau State), Abia State Government (Umuahia, Abia State), and several others to run rural health programmes in the 6 geopolitical Zones of the country.

LWI runs innovative executive health missions within the organised private sector countrywide. It has worked in partnership with Developmental Partners (WHO, DFID, USAID) among others.

The LWI/BusinessDay health report titled 'Connecting Health to the Work Environment' was launched at GHB2013 by The Hon Minister of Health Mozambique, Dr. Alexandre Manguele, ably represented by the Director of Policy, Dr. Celia Gonçalves.

Work Related to Hepatitis:

LiveWell Initiative LWI  has partnered with a healthcare organization and GSK for a hepatitis screening programme since 2011. In addition, LWI has marked the World Hepatitis Day annually since 2011; with concerted effort to improve advocacy and awareness about hepatitis. The organization currently partners with Roche SSA in the screening of Hepatitis B & C  Nationwide. On World Hepatitis Day 2013, LWI marked World Hepatitis Day with Emmy Award winner Dr Mona Khanna, at an elaborate programme in a faith based organization in Ikeja.

To date, and since 2014,  LWI has screened over 10,000 people each for Hepatitis B and C, and the organization has a databank across various population groups which have been screened.

The CEO , Bisi Bright, is the Deputy National Coordinator for the Hepatitis Alliance in Nigeria.
