• Screened over 20,000 people for hepatitis B within San Francisco
• Launched the Clinician’s Honor Roll to educate Primary Care Physicians about hepatitis B and the importance of ensuring Asian and Pacific Islanders are screened and vaccinated for it. Over 90% of Clinicians within San Francisco have signed on to the honor roll, as of 2016, totaling more than 1,500 people.
• Developed and launched the San Francisco Business Initiative to educate
o Cold visits to small and large businesses throughout San Francisco’s high density pockets of Asian and Pacific Islander business establishments to educate employees about the significance of hepatitis B and the importance of testing and vaccination
o Directly reached out to over 500 businesses
o Directly educated over 1,500 employees
o Over 100 businesses officially signed on as Business Initiative partners – promising to pass on educational information to their employees
o 1 Business enacted policy change within their Human Relations Department to recommend hepatitis B screening and vaccination to all new hires
• Developed and hosted Viral Hepatitis educational summits (2 – 2015 & 2016)
o Focused on both hepatitis B and hepatitis C
o Over 100 people in attendance each year
o Audience comprised of nursing students, medical professionals, Department of Public Health workers, community leaders, and non-profit representatives
o Panels included speakers of national caliber –Dr. Ron Valdessari, Dr. Robert Gish, researcher from UCSF, American Liver Foundation executives, and State Health Department and elected official leaders
• Launched a new warm-line phone line navigator
o Phone line for hepatitis B questions, available in 2 languages, English & Chinese and in 3 dialects – Cantonese, Mandarin, Toisanese.
o Functions to help individuals answer hepatitis B related questions – explain their screening results, and encourage follow-up treatment for chronic infection
• Developed large-scale educational awareness events/projects
o Illumination of City Hall in the hepatitis B & C colors – in partnership with End Hep C SF, Hepatitis C Taskforce, and the Prevent Cancer Foundation
o SF Giants Heritage nights
o Japanese Consulate General Reception
o Ethnic media commercials/PSA – Crossings TV and Skylink TV
